Michel Bret is emeritus professor and one of the founders of the Image Art and Technology department at Paris 8 University, where he taught until 2002. 

Since 1976 he has developed CGI software and made many films; since 1995 he has designed interactive installations featuring “smart” virtual actors. Before turning towards new technologies, he was a painter and mathematician.
